Ben Nevis

Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British isles at 1344 metres is a magnet for walkers and climbers.

The snow-capped peaks can be seen from miles around and the spectacular north face with vertical drops of 1000 feet have challenged climbers for centuries. There is a well-kept path for walkers to the old observatory at the top of the mountain where the temperature with wind chill could be 10 degrees colder than at the foot of the mountain. Accessed from Glen Nevis where a path crosses the River Nevis and twists up the mountain, this beautiful glen is where Braveheart was filmed.

The Ben Nevis Race is held annually in all weathers where fell runners will complete this course in one and half hours. At the foot of the mountain there is the Ben Nevis Inn for welcome refreshment.
